The Cuyahoga County Criminal Justice Services Governing Board was established by the Cuyahoga County Board of Commissioners and the City of Cleveland to fulfill the requirements of Ohio Revised Code §5502.64 and to lead the planning, development, and maintenance of a strategic plan for fair and effective criminal and juvenile justice in County of Cuyahoga.

Overall, the Governing Board is responsible for:
  • Creating the vision and guiding principles which direct the overall work of the organization;
  • Provide leadership to create, develop, direct, and implement the organization’s strategic plan;
  • Measure system performance and outcomes; and
  • Guide planning, coordinate funding, and work to create additional resources to achieve plan objectives
The Governing Board is made up of the following members:
  • County Executive, Chair
  • County Council President
  • Chief of Police, Cleveland
  • Cuyahoga County Prosecutor
  • Cuyahoga County Public Defender
  • Cuyahoga County Sheriff
  • Law Director, City of Cleveland
  • President, Cuyahoga County Police Chiefs Association
  • President / Representative, Mayors and City Managers Association
  • Presiding and Administrative Judge, Cleveland Municipal Court
  • Presiding and Administrative Judge, Common Pleas Court
  • Presiding and Administrative Judge, Juvenile Court
  • Representative Northern Ohio Judges Association (Suburban)
The Governing Board may approve the addition of either voting or non-voting Members as it deems necessary  The Criminal Justice Services Governing Board has three (3) subcommittees/ boards:
  • Agency Council
  • Community Council
  • Technology Council
