Responsibility:
To assist children and adults with mental retardation and other developmental disabilities in choosing and achieving a life of increasing capability such that they can live, learn, work and play in the community and to assist and support their families in achieving this objective.  

Qualifications:
Seven members - Five appointed by Cuyahoga County, two appointed by Probate Court. All members must be County residents and U.S. citizens, and familiar with the MR/DD and other allied fields.

Of the five Cuyahoga County-appointed positions, at least two shall be relatives of persons eligible for services provided by the County Board of Menal Retardation and Developmental Disabilities, and, whenever possible, one shall be a relative of a person eligible for adult services and the other shall be a relative of a person eligible for early intervention services or services for pre-school or school-age children.

Of the two Probate Court appointments, one shall be the relative of a person eligible for residential services or supported living.

Public Meetings:  
Regular Board meetings are conducted at 5:30 p.m. on the fourth Thursday of each month. The location of meetings is announced in advance.
