Responsibility:
To support and empower people with developmental disabilities to live, learn, work and play in the community.

Qualifications:
Seven members - Five appointed by Cuyahoga County, two appointed by Probate Court. All members must be residents of Cuyahoga County and United States citizens, and interested and knowledgeable in the field of developmental disabilities and other allied fields.

Of the five members appointed by Cuyahoga County, at least two shall be individuals who are immediate family members of individuals eligible for services provided by the county board and, whenever possible, one of those two members shall be an immediate family member of an individual eligible for adult services and the other shall be an immediate family member of an individual eligible for early intervention services or services for preschool or school-age children.

Of the two members appointed by the Probate Court, at least one shall be an individual who is an immediate family member of an individual eligible for residential services or supported living.

The length of term for both Cuyahoga County-appointed and Probate Court-appointed members is 4 years, with potential for 2 reappointments.

Public Meetings:  
Regular board meetings are at 5:30 P.M., on the 4th Thursday of the month (with some exceptions, usually in November and December, due to holidays). The yearly board meeting schedule is published on the website: www.CuyahogaBDD.org.
